2020 NSF RTG Computational Mathematics Winter Workshop

GPDE2018
The Center for Computational Mathematics is hosting the 2018 Workshop on Geometric Numerical Methods for PDE (GPDE2018) during January 12-16, 2018. The focus of the workshop this year is on General Relativity and Finite Element Exterior Calculus. The first day of the workshop takes place as an AMS Special Session at the Joint Mathematics Meeting at the San Diego Convention Center on Friday January 12, 2018. The remainder of the workshop will be held at UCSD on Saturday January 13 and Monday January 15. For more information see the GPDE2018 website.

NSF/NIH Math/Bio Initiative
In July 2014, NSF announced that an interdisciplinary team of bioengineers and mathematicians from the Institute of Engineering in Medicine (IEM) and Center for Computational Mathematics (CCoM) at UCSD received a 4-year $1M Math/Bio Initiative Award, which supports a collaborative project at the interface of mathematical and biological sciences.

CCoM Research Training Grant
In July 2014, NSF announced that a collaborative team of mathematicians at the Center for Computational Mathematics at UCSD had received a 5-year $1.8M NSF Research Training Group (RTG) Award. The Award supports an Interdisicplinary Research Training Group in Applied Mathematics, Computational Science, and Mathematical Physics, and will fund up to four UCSD Mathematics doctoral students participating in the CSME Doctoral Program, as well as provide funding for up to two named CCoM Postoctoral Fellowships, each year of the award.

MNGR Fall Seminar Series
As part of a new NSF FRG Award involving UCSD, Caltech, and CSU, in Fall 2011 we are running a seminar series/reading course in the overlapping areas of mathematical and numerical relativity. We are planning for 6-8 seminars spread throughout the quarter, depending on the travel schedules of some of the key participants. The meetings will usually be on Thursdays at 11am in 2402 AP&M. The meetings will be streamed via Evo to remote participants at CSU (Colorado) and SAMSI (North Carolina). For the complete schedule go to the
