Background
I am a Graduate Student in the Applied Mathematics program here at UCSD.
My research area is Large-Scale Nonlinear Programming. To be more specific,
I am working with Sequential Quadratic Programming methods to try to find
efficient ways to solve large Nonlinear programs with many degrees of
freedom. My advisor is
Dr. Philip E. Gill.
I received my undergraduate degree, a BA in Mathematics with emphasis on
Computational Math, from UC Santa Cruz in December of 1989. After graduation
I worked for almost five years as a programmer for Lockheed in Sunnyvale, CA.
If interested, you can read more about my
educational background
, or about my
professional history.
I left Lockheed in the Fall of 1994 to attend graduate school here at UCSD.
I was accepted in the Masters program for Applied Mathematics. In my second
year I began working as a Research Assistant with Dr. Gill on a
NSF Grant.
Then, in the Fall of 1996 I received an MA in Applied Mathematics, and
officially transfered into the PhD program in Mathematics here at UCSD.
